South Coast Catering Equipment

SCCE are the commercial catering equipment experts, offering a range of services for commercial kitchens – including maintenance, installation and repair, supplying refurbished catering equipment and designing custom kitchen solutions. Their service team offer a range of services from a one-off call out, to a complete maintenance contract with PPM (planned preventative maintenance) contracts.

They’ve been a family-run business in the catering and leisure industry for over 50 years, and they believe their success is down to knowledgeable staff offering a personal service, while using quality products.

Situated in Hailsham, East Sussex, SCCE has decades of experience and a wealth of knowledge. They’ve built up an impressive portfolio of clients; from schools to hotels, to fire stations and football clubs.

We spoke to Paul Barnes, the Service Director at South Coast Catering Equipment, about why they chose RedZebra and the impact it’s had on their business…

Before using RedZebra’s software, SCCE were using a very antiquated system, designed for accountancy. They had the system in place for years, but knew they needed something more-detailed. After a glowing review from Rational, Paul got in contact with RedZebra.

“We looked a few different field service management systems, but we knew RedZebra was the right one after a face-to-face meeting with Richard.”

Paul said that prior to this system, they were still printing job sheets and asking the engineers to come into the office every morning. This is no longer necessary, and their engineers have the flexibility to collect parts whenever they can.

We asked Paul what has been the biggest benefit to implementing RedZebra; and he said speed!

“Everything is much quicker now – engineers can request parts, and the office can order to refill in minutes. We have a constant flow of conversation between team members and customers, so there’s no need to be on the phone all day or spending additional time on admin.”

The engineers at SCCE have their own tablets, streamlining all the work they do.

“It’s like night and day, versus the manual and paper-based way of working! Our admin team used to scan and type all the jobs into the computer and then post the invoices, back in the day.”

Paul went on to explain that there is less staff in their office now, but everything is a much smoother process and better than it ever was before.

“There’s significantly less admin work to do, and our sales team has grown.”
